Elder named to teen center board

Shelley Elder has been named to the board of the Kennesaw Teen Center (KTC). Established by then-Kennesaw City Councilman Bill Thrash in 2011, the center has served more than 175 students in its after-school programs. 

Located at Thankful Baptist Church of Kennesaw, the program’s main purpose is to offer learning and enrichment opportunities to students in 6th through 8th grades in the Kennesaw community.

The program has five primary initiatives: 
   1) Homework Help and Academic Support
   2) The D.E.A.R. Program (Drop Everything and Read) 
   3) Character Enrichment and Development
   4) Cultural Awareness
   5) Personal Growth
